Mike Dannenhauer is a Florida native and resides in Fort Myers. In 1993, he graduated from the University of Tampa with a BS degree in Business Administration. At which time, he joined Five County Insurance Agency, a family owned independent insurance agency. He began as a producer, taking Five County from $10 million in sales to over $35 million. He has been serving as President since 2005. Acknowledging that the primary industry in Lee County was construction, Mike immediately directed his focus on becoming an expert in that field. He became a dues-paying member of the Lee Building Industry Association. During his tenure with Lee BIA, Mike has served as Treasurer, Secretary and Vice-President (the highest position of an associate member). He is also a four-time Lee BIA Associate of the Year Award winner. Mike’s high energy level, love and appreciation for the industry soon spilled over to the state level. He has served in numerous leadership positions with the Florida Home Builders Association, including: Area VI Vice President, Membership Committee Chair, Associate Council Chair, Associate Director, and Foundation Director. He’s also served as a member on several committees: Insurance Advisory Council, Executive Committee, Long Range Planning Committee and Industry Issues Committee. In 2003, the FHBA honored Mike with the prestigious “Eagle Award” for outstanding service to the association. And in 2006, FHBA bestowed Mike with “The Associate of the Year Award”. In 2008, Mike was appointed by Governor Charlie Chris to serve on the Florida Greenways and Trails Council. Mike and his wife, Maria, have three children: Paige, Max and Faith. He enjoys the outdoors with his family; such as: boating, fishing, hunting and golfing.
